Weekend Eats & Drinks 12/21/11

Whatever you're celebrating, it's a good weekend for eating and drinking.

Friday, Local123 holds a Hannukah popup from 1 to 5 P.M. Menu includes a plate of freshly fried latkes, brisket with roasted carrots and onions, Happy Boy Farms salad and flourless coconut macaroons for $18. Mulled wine, hot apple cider and beer or wine by the glass are priced per drink. Vegetarian options are also available.

Afterward, head to Triple Rock Brewery in Berkeley for its annual Festivus. The challenge is to drink four beers of ABV above 8% and other tests of strength. The four beers include a wheat wine, scotch ale, imperial red and a wood-aged imperial stout. The seasonal beers will be available throughout the holidays.

On Christmas Eve, Oakland's Bocanova holds a 4-course crab dinner for $50 per person. The menu's not posted, but you can ask when calling for reservations, (510) 444-1233.

Weekend Eats & Drinks 12/16/11

Today and tomorrow starting at 5 P.M., Oakland's the Trappist celebrates Kerstbier Fest. For $25, get 4 6 oz. samples of Christmas beers and a keepsake glass. Some breweries on tap include Mikkeller, Dieu du Ciel! and Haandbryggeriet.

Sunday, Revival Bar + Kitchen and Bison Brewing present the first holiday beer cocktail event from 5 to 8 P.M. Mixologists behind BeerMixology.com will make 3 original cocktail recipes with Bison's IPA, Chocolate Stout and Gingerbread Ale. The event is free, so all you have to pay for is your drink.

Weekend Eats & Drinks 12/9/11

Tonight, Old Oakland Neighbors celebrates 5 years. Meet neighbords and support local businesses at Pacific Coast Brewery from 5 to 8 P.M. Food and drinks are available for purchase, with 10% donated to Old Oakland Neighbors. OON will also be accepting donations; men's socks and underwear to CityTeam Ministries, unwrapped and new toys for Endgame's toy drive and monetary gifts to fund OON neighborhood improvement and promotion activities.

In between holiday shopping, see if you can snag tickets to Pacific Coast Brewery's 23rd annual Holiday of Beers from noon to 4 P.M. Saturday. $60 advance tickets are required for he multi-course meal and beer pairing.
